«Pregnancy, childbirth and the postnatal period are all marked by profound psychological as well as physical changes, the implications of which affect one’s sense of self, giving rise to doubts, fears and a sense of inadequacy.»
Involvement in the association
Becoming mothers and fathers is a journey that takes place over a period that is anything but short: it starts from the psychic gestation of the imagined child, as well as from one's own representation of being a parent. Pregnancy first, childbirth, and the postpartum period afterwards are events marked by a significant psychic transformation, as well as physical, whose implications affect identity by creating doubts, fears, and a sense of inadequacy, sometimes transforming into significant suffering, such as postpartum depression.
Delicate situations and painful experiences can also involve parents who embark onadoption paths ormedically assisted reproduction.
I work as a psychotherapist at the Vela Studio in Locarno, where I receive both young adults who are approaching the idea of motherhood and fatherhood, as well as parents who are facing psychological suffering during the perinatal period. It is essential in these cases to rely on a network and active services in the area.
I also collaborate with Periparto Switzerland as a specialized psychotherapist with the aim of supporting families and offering emergency consultations for parents in difficulty, in addition to participating in events aimed at raising awareness about what characterizes the perinatal period.
