We know from experience that people living with a perinatal mental health condition often struggle in silence – including at work. Up to 20% of mothers and 10% of fathers are affected, and most cases go unrecognised. These are skilled professionals in one of the most productive phases of their careers – yet their quiet withdrawal, exhaustion, and declining performance are too often overlooked until it is too late.

Our study shows that employers are inadequately prepared for the psychological challenges of transitioning to parenthood.
