«I didn't seem depressed. But I was. Even the people closest to me struggled to see it – and everyone kept saying: «It will pass.» It doesn't pass on its own. And back then, in Ticino, there was nothing like Periparto.»
Involvement in the association
Postpartum depression crept up on me silently – invisible, gradual, and for a long time not recognised for what it was. Despite years of therapy and the support of my psychiatrist, the period after my daughter's birth took me to a place I could never have imagined. What I learned: asking for help is not a weakness. And with the right support, you can heal.
From that experience grew a commitment. I founded the association creiAMOci and created RESET – a peer support group for parents in crisis. Today I accompany other parents as a peer at Periparto Switzerland, because no one should have to get through that moment alone. I tell my story whenever I can. Because postpartum depression is not a low that passes on its own. It is a condition and it needs to be recognised and treated.
