Periparto connects parents who are experiencing psychological distress or illness during pregnancy or after the birth of their child with a peer who has been through the same — a mother, father, or relative with lived experience. Peers listen and share their own experiences by phone, email, SMS, or in person. They understand what it feels like to face depression or anxiety with a newborn, and how hopeless the situation can seem.
This form of peer support is particularly valuable when there is no self-help group nearby, or when one-to-one exchange feels more comfortable than a group setting. It is designed to complement professional help and other support services, and is available free of charge.
Periparto's peer programme is one of a kind in Switzerland and is available free of charge.
