The birth of multiple babies—whether twins, triplets, or more—is a special joy for many parents. At the same time, it brings with it considerable challenges that significantly increase the risk of postpartum mental health issues (Wenze et al., 2018). Caring for two or more newborns at the same time is extremely demanding, both physically and emotionally, especially in the first few months of life. Mothers of multiples report more frequently experiencing exhaustion, overwhelm, and isolation—risk factors that are closely linked to the development of postpartum depression (PPD) or other mental illnesses (Wenze et al., 2018). Nevertheless, the specific situation of these families has been largely ignored in care and research to date.
