Postpartum psychosis is a serious mental illness that can occur in mothers after giving birth. It usually occurs within the first six weeks after birth and is a medical emergency. Postpartum psychosis requires rapid diagnosis and, in most cases, inpatient treatment, as it can significantly affect the mother's well-being, her bond with her child, and the child's early development.
